THE PROJECT
In this villa situated in the hills of Verona, the transparent envelope plays a dominant role in the overall architecture.
The building’s volume, clean-cut and sharply defined, opens its southwest elevation toward the valley; while respecting the structure's overall austerity, the large expanses of glass serve as a focal point, bringing the house to life through the use of heat-treated ash wood. Continuity between the glazed and opaque sections acts as a unifying theme; the wood shifts in geometry yet retains its material quality and color palette across all facades and into the interiors.

The movable sashes assert their presence with solid frames, featuring ash planks carefully selected to maximize the material's expressive quality.

NODE STUDY
Monoblock subframes are designed to resolve the connection between the rough opening, the window unit, and the façade cladding within a single insulated element, integrating insulation layers and airtightness. Shading systems and their associated accessories are housed in dedicated insulated compartments. There is no discontinuity between the window units and the façade cladding.

Facade cladding in medium-heat-treated ash. The heat treatment yields a soft color, allowing the grain to emerge in a natural pattern.
VALUES
The glazing package with Ug = 0.5 W/m²K maintains a light transmittance of over 71% and a color rendering index of 98 points. The window system as a whole has average Uf values ranging from 0.65 to 0.75 W/m²K, with a solar heat gain coefficient of over 40%.

ENTRANCE
The entrance features a solid vertical pivot door. Both the interior and exterior are finished in medium-tone thermally treated ash, maintaining continuity with the home's cladding.
Interior sliding door with transparent bronze-tinted glass. Flush-fitting closure.
On the east elevation, slender, full-height timber columns, clad in the same finish as the rest of the house, complete the volumes.
